Little instruments I build for writing and worldbuilding. More will appear here in time.

An archive of worlds
A place to wander deeper into the worlds behind the books — to meet the characters, learn the lore, and trace the in-story histories that won’t fit between the covers of any one novel.
Hi! I’m Wren — a disabled and queer writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand. I write literary fantasy, gothic fiction, and horror that lives in the emotional and psychological edges of monstrosity, grief, and divinity. My stories tend to centre queer lives and feminine rage, using speculative frameworks to wrestle with real-world systems of violence.
I’ve been writing seriously for over a decade now — a path shaped, in no small part, by chronic illness. My prose is lyrical and emotionally driven, drawn from the well of writers like Anne Rice and Brandon Sanderson, and from the music of Fleetwood Mac, A-ha, Bilmuri, and Paramore.
My most recently completed manuscript is Mariota, a gothic literary fantasy currently out on submission. Whatever I’m drafting next will almost certainly involve a woman who shouldn’t be loved and is anyway.
When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me listening to music, daydreaming about cowboys, or crying over both at once. I’m an Aries — make of that what you will.
